What do you do to Relax?

Updated: Sep 2, 2019

Hello and Happy Bank Holiday!

Here in the UK its a mini holiday, we get an extended weekend - I hope you're having a good one! I have been enjoying the extra day off so I wanted to talk to you today about the importance of relaxing!

I get that FOMO (fear of missing out) is real, and social media shows you all the amazing things that everyone else is up to; but there is so much to be said for just doing nothing, switching off from technology and allowing yourself to take a time out, especially in the summer months which can be so busy.

Doing nothing has so many benefits in allowing yourself to recharge:

- Your resting state is a powerful tool for regulating your emotions and maintaining the ability to focus.

- Rest will also help you make better decisions and be more productive.

- Downtime benefits your creativity too. Letting your brain rest can trigger more imaginative thoughts and ideas.

Although being busy may help you feel more productive, it can lead to burn out. Working too much is also associated with low morale, depression, sleep deprivation, relationship breakdown, and disengagement at work.

So even if you feel lazy or guilty for doing nothing, it's the best thing you can do for yourself!

What do you do to allow yourself to relax?
