Do we need community?

Have you heard the story about a village where all the women washed clothes together down by the river? When they all got washing machines, there was a sudden outbreak of depression and no one could figure out why.

The reason, they figured out, was the lack of time spent doing things together. It was the lack of community.

We spent centuries living in communities, looking after each other, being there for each other and because of that feeling like someone always had our back.

Now, we are all so much more independent and are encouraged to do things by and for ourselves. While this can is great and I don't doubt you can do things by yourself, community is just as important as it always was. Loneliness is on the increase and has been proved to have significant effects on health and wellbeing and been linked to poor mental health.

It seems we don't just want community, we need it

This is why I have started up this community - I'm hoping it will be a place where we can support each other, share ideas, share triumphs as well as struggles. You can join in the link below and know if you ever need anything, I am here for you.
