Oscar Wilde reminded us that “to love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance.”
I wanted to remind you of this today and encourage you to be kinder to yourself.
We are great at remembering all our faults. Our internal voice provides harsh judgements as we blame and shame ourselves for not being good enough.
There is always room for improvement but we can be at peace with the process. We can accept that messing up is part of being human and from it we can learn so much!
So here are 3 ways you can be kinder to yourself:
1. Self compassion
Rather than beating yourself up for being disorganised, give yourself support. For example, it’s okay that I missed the deadline, I worked hard and I’ll make it next time.
2. Shared humanity
Everyone makes mistakes and no one is without their weaknesses. Accepting that we are not alone in our imperfection comforts us with feelings of inclusivity rather than alienation.
3. Mindfulness
Helping us to remain in the present and not become overwhelmed by the things your haven't yet done or have messed up on.
How can you be kinder to yourself today?
